About Amelia
My sessions are 100% student-focused. I make an effort to understand the student's learning style, and to use this information to teach the material to the student. My goal is to work with students long-term, so I build a strong working relationship with each student by developing rapport and taking an interest in my student's lives.
I love getting to work with so many students and to see my students' progress.
I have Bachelor's degrees in Math and Psychology, as well as experience teaching Algebra at the high school-level. I have tutored every level of middle school and high school math, in both an online and in-person capacity. I also have experience tutoring test prep, such as SAT Math, AP Calculus, IB Math, and AP Psychology.

I start working with a new student by trying to gauge where they are in terms of understanding the material. Depending on student understanding, I either reteach the material or guide the student through practice problems.
I have worked with middle school, high school, and college students. I also have experience working with students with learning differences, including ADHD, autistm, and learning disabilities.

Amelia has an incredible ability to zero in on just what her students need to understand the subject/content of the unit. She is prepared for each session with knowledge and purpose to help her students advance through the class .... our daughter was a recipient of these skills and had a terrific improvement in her math confidence!
Amelia is very conscientious and organized. She improved my son's scores by almost a whole letter grade.
I liked how my tutor was good at explaining the math problems to me in a easy way for me to understand because I don’t usually get what I’m supposed to do when my teachers explain it. And I like how I’m free to ask any questions.

Details
Online lessons start at $40/hr, while in-person lessons start at $50/hr. I have a 24-hour cancellation policy -- any lessons cancelled within 24-hours of the session will be considered a late cancellation, and a $20 cancellation fee will be assessed. I also have a 15-minute no-show policy -- if a student has not arrived to a session within 15 minutes of the starting time (and has not contacted me to inform me of their tardiness), the session is considered forfeited and a $20 cancellation fee will be assessed.
