About Leni

I pay close attention and listen to the student and carefully access their best method of learning. I am flexible in my approach. If the student does not comprehend the concepts in one manner, we approach it from another method. I am extremely patient.

I love seeing the students realize their potential and succedd in something that was otherwise frustrating to them or did not make sense. Conquering hurdles builds confidence and it is so rewarding to see students of all ages become more confident. Math is fun and I love to share my enthusiasm in solving problems.

I was encouraged in college to get my teaching certificate. I decided after undergraduate school that i wanted to pursue a degree in Environmental Science which I did - a Masters from Emory University. After grad school, I opted to have a family. I started tutoringfriends of my kids and eventually started doing it full time. I have worked with students from all over the country and in all grade levels. I prefer working with high school studnet snad college students so this is what I mainly do today.

I have a Bachelor's Degree from Colgate University in Mathematics and a Master's Degree in Environmental Science from Emory University. I have been tutoring students for the over 12 years in all areas of high school and college level math and have worked extensively with Sat and ACT Math Tutoring.

About the lesson

I contact the student and find out what they need assistance with. We discuss their goals and set up a plan to begin meeting. We discuss what materials they are using and we discuss payment options. I like to set up an intial visit as soon as possible.

I have worked with high school students and college level students who either wanted to improve their grade or just feel more comfrotable with the subject area. I have taught Algebra I, algebra II, Trigonometry, Precalculus, Calculus (both academic and AP levels),Business Calculus, Geometry, Sat Math Prep, ACT Math Prep.

Recently, I worked with a student preparing for the SAT. I worked with her once a week on and off for 5 months. Her base score, when we began, was 620 and today she is scoring 780 -790 on all of her practice tests. She takes the actual test this weekend, so Im exceited to see how she does. So proud of her hard work and I have so enjoyed working with her!!!

Details

I charge $50 per hour for my services. I will conduct sessions that are less than one hour (30 minute minimum) and sessions that are longer than one hour, if needed. I charge by 15 minute increments.
