About Maya

I am a freshman in high school with 9 years of music experience. I play violin and viola and am currently attending a music high school. I also previously attended the Mannes prep music school in New York City. I am also fluent in Russian and am equipped to teach beginners of any age. I am also able to tutor young kids in basic school subjects as well as music notation.

I enjoy teaching in general but I personally love to teach music because it is what I do best. I love to see young kids progress the same way as I did. I have a lot of gratitude for all my music teachers because they helped me become who I am today. I would love to be able to help young kids improve in school, music and languages. I believe that learning should not be forced however hard work must be encouraged. If you choose to study with me you will be required to practice and learn. I believe that the key to improvement is hard work, practice and determination. I may be young but I have enough experience to help young kids and beginners of any age improve.

I started teaching when I opened a small summer camp over the summer. With the whole pandemic happening my little sister had nothing to do all summer so I opened a small camp for her and her friends. In the camp I taught the basic school subjects as well as music and art. After that I branched out and started teaching a few private violin students however I had to stop because the pandemic became worse and they did not want to learn online.

I have 9 years of experience and currently attend a music highschool. Previously I attended the Mannes prep music school in New York City. Yearly I attend the Killington Music Festival in Vermont and perform at numerous concerts every year.

About the lesson

My typical process is to examine what they know and what they need to improve. I believe that hard work is key and slacking of in my class is not ok. I may be young but I know how to be strict and know how to get a child to improve. I am strict but fair and will never over work a child. The younger the child is the more engaging I strive to make the learning process for them.

I have worked with students ages 5 through 10.

I would say look for someone who will push you but not over work you.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
I think an important one is what they want to get from it. For example will it be a hobby for them or a profession. I for example am studying to be a professional violinist/violist.
