About Hailey

I've always really liked teaching, whether that be in math, English, Spanish, or horseback riding. I do my best to teach at a level that you can understand, and if you don't, then I try to match how you best learn.

I've tutored before in subjects dealing with Math, English, and Spanish, and most of the students I've worked with have walked away with a better understanding of what they were confused about.

I'm currently a senior in College, so I'm still a student myself, and therefore not so far out of school that I still remember getting frustrated at not understanding certain topics in my classes.

Keeping that in mind, I try to make it fun or interesting for the student to learn a normally confusing topic.

I started teaching back in middle school, where I had a student ask for help in math. I furthered my teaching experience by giving beginner horseback riding lessons in high school, as well as tutoring a few high school students in math.

I have experience tutoring both middle school and high school students in math and language.

At a university level, I have experience in teaching students around horses, keeping them safe while doing so, and furthering their understanding in how to improve the knowledge they already know about riding.

About the lesson

I will typically introduce myself and ask the student some basic questions like their name, grade, what class/topic they need help with, and if they know the best way that they learn. This way we can be efficient in the actual tutoring and avoid further confusion on the topics.

I've found jumping right into the issue of confusion is usually the best way to help them, rather than wasting an hour or two just trying to get to know them. I usually get to know the student better while helping them out.

I have worked with students ranging from the ages of 4 (for the horse lessons) to 18. Outside of age, I have also worked with neurodivergent students (specializing in those with ADHD) successfully to help them both learn and stay on topic long.

I would advise that students look for teachers/tutors that specifically know what you are being taught.

I had a tutor once that said he knew the topic I needed help with, but once he showed up and worked with me, he looked my mom dead in the eye and said that I had better understanding of the material than he did, which was mildly frustrating on our end as the client.

It was actually an online tutoring situation. A friend asked for a "study buddy" while she worked on an essay. When I asked what the essay was about, I was able to advise her on how to format her essay and find interesting information to make it better. That session actually continued over to other topics like math and Spanish where I was able to explain concepts for her there as well.
