About Katelynn

Hi! My name is Katelynn Anderson and I would love to be your tutor! I am a senior student of Elementary Education with a focus in SPED at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.

I use relevant research, best practices, and differentiated instruction techniques to tailor lessons to your specific needs.

Assessment

Assessment material varies slightly from student to student, but math and science assessments utilize the most recent past STAAR test. After that, I do a PAST (Phonological Awareness Screening Test), an ORF assessment (Oral Reading Fluency), and I test spelling. It all depends on the initial meeting I'll have with you and what target areas you want to focus on.

Best Practices

In my lessons and planning, I always use my current resources, data, and research in order to stay up to date on best practices. You will always find me using best practices in my lessons.

Learning Standards

Every lesson should be pushing your student forward. To make sure I'm doing that, I align my lessons with the TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills).

Metacognition

Metacognition is so incredibly important for our students to practice, but often overlooked. This can result in a fixed mindset, confusion and limited use of the great learning potential all children have. Embracing and focusing on metacognitive practices such as reflection, is one of my top priorities.

Pyramid of Learning

Bloom's Taxonomy is a progression of learning that begins at the most lowest level, remembering, and ends at the highest level, creation. It is always my goal that your student masters any and all content to the point of this highest level.

About the lesson

Mathematics lessons offered by Katelynn are tailored to each student's needs and level. Lessons can also be held online. Lessons are also available in Georgetown. The first lesson is free to define learning goals and methodology.
