About Rikki

I am not the type to just lecture someone about a problem, but rather, I try to walk the student through all the steps, and try to intervene as little as possible so that they can learn how to solve other problems themselves. I am willing to work over-time for students who need more time or more explanation without extra pay. I tutor other students with love and compassion, and helping them is my number 1 priority.

I've taught at YSI institute in the La Crescenta area in Los Angeles, and I've had a great time there working with students. I would spend hours helping students and I had little to no problems working there.

I have completed college level chemistry as well as writing and english. I am currently a Junior at my University, so I am very experienced with basic Algebra and/or Geometry.

About the lesson

I think that it is most important to get to know the student before we begin any sessions. The student themselves are the most important part of tutoring. We need to analyze how they learn the best, how they interact with others, what areas they are weak in, what goals they want to pursue, their career paths, etc...

After getting to know the student, we would work through the problem together, and I would try to explain the conceptual ideas of the problem before approaching the solution.

Previously, I have worked with elementary to High School students. I am willing to work with college students as well depending on the subject.

You want to hire a teacher and not a money-maker. A good teacher will be willing to negotiate prices with you if the pricing seems to be high. In addition, a good teacher will always prioritize helping students over making business.

When I was in Korea back in June of 2017, I taught english to several children and students, and the best part about teaching them was developing a loving relationship with them. We would gift each other birthday presents and video call them on special holidays. I love spending time with my students, so we would go on mini-trips together when possible and just spend quality time together.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
I feel like the number 1 thing that students need to do before asking a question about a problem is to try doing it themselves. After they put in all of their effort trying to solve the problem and still are unable to solve it themselves, then it's time to ask a tutor for help. However, students will not learn much if they immediately ask for help without even trying to solve the problem themselves.
