About Rosangela
I worked as a mentor in the Student Initiative for Success in STEM (SIS-STEM) lab of my local community college where my time was spent as a leader of small groups of students navigating their way through gateway chemistry and biology courses. I implemented active learning to engage the students in the material and used real-world examples to make the concepts relatable. As a mentor, I would guide the students to the correct solutions while giving them the tools to come to their own conclusions. I felt it was important to give them the space to grow as a group and not form a dependence on my knowledge of the topics we were discussing.
I love tutoring because I enjoy seeing my students improve on their courses and see them excel in areas where they previously struggled.
