About Alicia
Hello! I have been passionate about teaching elementary students for almost two decades. I just completed my 17th year of classroom teaching (all subjects) in my 5th-grade classroom. I have spent all 17 years teaching in an Illinois suburb of St. Louis, and I live in St. Louis. I love getting students excited about learning by getting to understand their interests and motivations and finding ways to connect their experiences to the content being learned. In addition to my degree in Elementary Education, I also have a middle school endorsement in Language Arts and a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction.

Initially, I like to have casual conversations with a student to help them feel at ease. Asking some basic questions also allows me to gain a better understanding of a child's interests, likes, dislikes, and attitude towards learning/school. Keeping these anecdotes in mind, along with the academic areas needing improvement, I can plan lessons to most benefit the student.
I have worked with students with special needs, learning disabilities, as well as gifted students.
