About Taylor

I was not the person who didnt study, didn't do homework, and still got an A on the test. I had to struggle, work, and put in the time to be successful in mathematics. That being said, once I master a topic, I am really good at explaining that topic in a variety of ways. This is what makes Howe's Math Help stand out. I understand what it is like to struggle in math class. I like to think I can speak the language of the struggling math student.

I taught high school math for three years at a charter school in St. Louis city. I recently left that position, which was a wonderful experience, to travel with my wife who is a traveling therapist. I have a math degree with a master's in teaching.

It is my goal to provide a patient and encouraging environment where the student will be able to grow, confidently, in their abilities!

The best part of teaching/tutoring is seeing students excel in areas they didn't think they could excel. I enjoy the subject matter, but mostly I enjoy the challenge and the struggle of trying to solve a problem. When a student goes from a strong belief that they are "just not good at math" to just as strong of a belief that they can learn and figure out anything, this is the highlight of teaching.

I have always had a passion for seeing others overcome challenges. My parents are both in a teaching role, so I have seen the wonderful impact they have had on their students and their students have had on them.

Bachelor's degree in mathematics and master's degree in teaching from Wheaton College (IL)

3 years high school teaching experience in charter school

Tutoring experience through an in home service in Chicago as well as through local high schools!
