About Juan

I knew I wanted to teach since I started tutoring. I became a teacher to continue to stay up to date on educational trends.

I have a bachelors in math, a masters in math, a masters in math education, a certificate in special education, an SBL in educational leadership, and an SDL in educational leadership. I have been a tutor since 1999 and a teacher since 2009. I have over 12,000 hours of teaching experience and over 12,000 hours of tutoring experience.

About the lesson

While most tutors just try to re-teach, I focus on fixing cognitive dissonance and fixing misconceptions in a way that makes already learned material naturally understandible.

I have worked with students from Algebra I through calculus as well as physics with and without calculus.

Look for experience and quality and then choose the tutor with a fee that matches your needs. Weigh cost against quality, and make the decision that is right for you. I know that I am not affordable for many students, but if my fee is attainable for you, know that I come with an immense amount of experience and a proven track record.

I worked with a student who wanted to pass her test with a 90 and had gotten a grade consistently between 60 and 70 all semester. I worked with her for 3 sessions and she got a 98.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Put genuine thought into what your needs are. How much time do you have? Weeks? Days? A year? What are your goals? To pass a class? To get an 80? To get high 90s? Is it more about getting into college? Getting into a specific college? Qualifying for higher level classes? If you are the student, put thought into what you want for yourself. If you are the parent, put thought into what you want for both your child and yourself.

My lessons are $250/hour in person and $200/hour remote. The tutors who work for me have a large range in fees so we should discuss those individually. I DO NOT charge hidden fees, no matter the payment method. I am fully aware that my fees are higher than most, but you get what you pay for. I do not negotiate my fees because knowing my fees up front makes it easier for you to make your decisions when it comes to tutoring.
