About Monica
I wanted to be a teacher for as long as I remember. I began working with a Kindergarten class during my 8th grade year and went back every year to help with the students mulitple times a year until my senior year of high school. I then went to college to become a teacher and after completing all the neccessary courses, tests, and student teaching experiences I began my first teaching job.
I have a Bachelors degree in education from Longwood University in Virginia and a Masters degree in Reading Instruction and Curriculum from Grand Canyon University in Arizonia. I have my Virginia teaching license and taught 1st grade for 1 year, 4th grade for 1 year, and 5th grade for 5 years; all 7 years of my teaching was in Virginia. I am currently a Technology Specialist for K-5 in Gig Harbor. I particularly love working with and helping students with math but am qualified to tutor and work with all elementary education.

I first want to play a quick ice breaker game to get to know the student both personally and academically. This will help me determine their interests and use those interests to better help them understand concepts.
I have worked with kindergarteners, 1st grade, 4th grade, and 5th grade students. I have worked with gifted students, special education students, and students who are learning English as their second language. I am currently working with all kindergarten through 5th grade students in my current elementary school
