About Megan
Hello! My name is Megan and I have been a middle school teacher in Philadelphia for 2 1/2 years. I earned a Bachelor's degree from Eastern University in Middle Level Education with concentrations in math and science and currently have an active PA teaching certificate for grades 4-8. I offer tutoring in math through Algebra I, as well as tutoring in any subject in grades 4-8.
I love helping young people understand academic concepts more clearly using methods that work best for them. One lesson I always want to teach my students is that making mistakes is one very important way to learn something new. I try to be encouraging and patient which I have seen goes a long way! Also, when students are given many opportunities to explain their thought processes throughout a lesson, it helps them to retain concepts more quickly and effectively. When students become comfortable with, it also helps strengthen their communication and problem solving skills. This is the most rewarding moment as a teacher or tutor because it shows that the student has become the master in that topic and now has more skill in their own tool boxes.
I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Middle Level Education from Eastern University. I also have an active PA teaching certificate. I have been a general education teacher in Philadelphia for 2 1/2 years.

Many times when students are struggling with an academic subject, it can be very frustrating and unfamiliar. I first like to get to know nonacademic interests that the student has. This allows me to start building rapport from the first session and tends to help students feel more comfortable.
I have worked with students as young as 8 years old through adult-aged. In addition to my formal teaching experience in a middle school, I also piloted a GED preparatory course.
