About Sarah
I genuinely care about every student I work with and will go above and beyond normal teaching methods to make sure we find a type of learning that works best.
I love helping students not only learn the material and have those "Aha!" moments, but more than anything I love getting them excited about a topic that they may have come to me disliking.
I have always loved working with kids, particularly middle and high schoolers. I coached middle school volleyball a couple years back and getting to see that "Aha!" moment from my kids made me want to get involved in teaching.
I have 2 Bachelors Degrees, one in Psychology and one in Political Science. Having worked in 2 different research labs with VCU, I am well versed in math and science and love sharing my personal experience with the subjects to get others excited about them too. I have experience working with kids in both the lab and the classroom. I have tutored with Axiom Educators in the Richmond Public School system for a year now and love it!

I love to get to know them and figure out what teaching styles will help them the most. If I can relate the material to something they enjoy outside of school, even better!
I have worked largely with at-risk kids in the Richmond Public School system but my tips and tricks would work for anybody. If you don't get the material now, we will get you there.
I tutored one student in Biology and she came to me having failed the SOL for two years in a row. She came in hating Biology and just wanted to pass the test and graduate high school. By the end of our first tutoring session together she said "You know what, I'm excited to come back in a few days because I know you are going to get me to pass this test."
