About Bahar

I recently graduated high school and got my acceptance from Emory University. Not only have a taken 14 AP classes and multiple Honors classes, I have teaching experience from volunteer work and online tutoring. Because I graduated recently, I am better able to understand the needs of a student because I myself was in their position too not long ago so I am able to better sympathize with them to provide them comfort along with the education.

Although I enjoyed learning for a majority of school, there are always times where I couldn't do my work because it was difficult to understand and I felt like I was bothering my teacher with my questions. Because of this, I know I would've loved having a tutor that could help me outside of school so I could learn information my way. I love being able to provide students with a comfortable space where they can ask questions without feeling ashamed for not understanding the topic and allowing them to learn in a way that suites them best.

I began teaching as a volunteer teacher for saturday school but I began working officially as an online tutor in Dcember of 2019. I was wrapping up my first semester of my senior year and a college counselor I had was wondering if I would be down to do some online tutoring and since I had gotten my college acceptance, I thought it would be a great idea to begin working so I accepted the job.

I have recently graduated high school and during my 4 years, I have taken 14 AP classes, some of which are topics that relate to my tutoring classes. Additionally, I have worked as a volunteer teacher at my local community center's saturday school for 3 years. Such experiences allowed me to truly put myself in the position of a teacher embrace the role wholeheartedly.

About the lesson

In the beginning of the process, I like getting to know my student and their working process. All kids learn differently and with the best method suited for them, they can thrive in any difficulty of class. I would ask them a couple questions about what they've learned, what they haven't quite understood, and how they feel about the class as a whole. If I don't already know their level in the subject, I would also give them a placement test to have an idea of where to start and go from there.

I have worked with students of all age ranges from Kingergarten to High School Freshmen. I also work closely with my three younger siblings :)

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
I would first recommend you to think about your strengths and weaknesses. Go through your past examinations and see what lessons you aced and which ones you remember hating because of its difficulty! Organize these into your strengths and weakness and let the teacher know so they can have an idea of how they can tackle the subject.

Another important detail to think about is your learning style. How do you learn best? Are you a visual or auditory learner? Do you prefer learning with words and explanations or pictures and graphs? This way, the tutor can change their methods to make it efficient and easier for you.
