About Nhung (Nina)

I have 2 years of work experience as an academic tutor (Math and Accounting) at Mission College. I have helped many students to find their study problems and guide them to have a better undertanding of materials. I was also a private tutor for a high school student.

Firstly, I love Math and Accounting so I enjoy talking and dealing with them. This is the work that gives me new knowledge too.

Secondly, I like to help students with their academic problems which I believe most of them I have been through. It always seems nice to me to help people out and to reduce their stress.

Last but not least, I think the job just fits me well as I am a patient person and I love to hear people share their problems.

It was back to 2018 when I just finished my Calculus I class with an A+. The teacher encouraged me to join the Academic Center so I might be able to help her class next semester as an embedded tutor which only offered by the center. Thus, I applied to the job and got accepted. After that, when I finished with my other Math classes and Accounting classes, more tutoring subjects are added to my list.

Luckily, I also got an offer to teach a high school student with Math and GMAT.

I tutored Math and Accounting at the Academic Center (Mission College, California, CA). The job in about 2 years has helped me a lot in improving my communication skill as well as tutoring skills. I also got chance to be more familiar with online tutoring since the pademic. Moreover, I have had time to consolidate my knowledge in subjects that I learned by teaching them to others.

About the lesson

I would first get to know their study status, their level of learning, and their pace of processing basic materials. After that, I would provide several ways of tutoring technics such as using images, practical examples, or writings to see which fits him/her best.

I have worked with many types of students as you may know, Academic Center has a lot of students coming in and out to get help with their homework and projects. I would divide them into types of learners since different people has different preferred technics on how to study: Visual, auditory, hands-on, and reading and writing learners. I have worked with all of these types but more often with visual and hands-on learners.
