About Fatima

Hello, I am a recent graduate in UC Berkeley that studied physics and astrophysics. I began tutoring in 2016 for the Covina Valley Unified School District. I tutored k-12 tudents in math, science, and spanish.

I have also taught multivariable calculus to college freshmen and sophomores for 2019, 2018, 2017 Winter Academic Training Camp hosted by the Hispanic Engineers and Scientists of UC Berkeley.

I additionally work as a planetarium presenter at the Lawrence Hall of Science since 2017.

I am the oldest of three younger siblings. I have always helped them get ahead in their studies. In 2016 I taught at a professional level for the Covina Valley Unified School District for k-12 students. I was contacted by my highschool counselor to tutor.

I recently graduated from UC Berkeley and studied physics and astrophysics. I am also President of Hispanic Engineers and Scientists, a student organization that advocates for the success of Latinx students in STEM fields. I consistently work with the material in my study and apply it to my student organization to help others.

About the lesson

I first like to do a review lecture on their most recent material, then go through examples from the book or make some of my own examples up. Afterwards I have them do a question on their own and have them explain their thinking process in approaching the problem. From there I can either help them in homework they were assigned or assign them a new assignment.

I have work with k-12 students in 2016 and recently have tutored college freshmen and sophomores.

Everybody learns differently, so find a tutor that is willing to explore that with you. A good tutor is one that isn't condenscending and allows you to form your own ideas of the subject.

I find that children with disabilities have always found it hard to get proper resources to succeed academically. While I was tutoring in Covina High School, a highschool freshmen who was on the spectrum came in for help. He kept apologizing for asking me questions, which made me realize he's probabily has had an impatient tutor in the past unwilling to answer his questions. He was one of my most consistent students.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Besides the logistical questions of rates and availability, ask a teacher what they are most passionate about. Maybe their passion matches yours? I think you can tell alot about a person on their answer.
