About Anastasia

I am a middle school and high school math and English tutor ready to help challenged students reach their potential through patient, organized, mentorship and guidance as they navigate this new world of online school! I started in 2017 and by 2019 I was a statistics tutor at Cerritos College. I love to help people get and stay organized, I will reach out to teachers to maintain rapport, and I will go above and beyond to see your child succed.

I enjoy being of service to families. I understand what it is like to struggle in class, especially math. I learned how to stay organized and how to extend myself as a tutor and a mentor and it's very rewarding. I choose to do this rather than another career path because kids need help and we want them to be prepared for college, or whatever path they go down! I also have a lot of experience with combatting test anxiety, and i often will teach my students breathing exercises that they can practice when confronted with an assignment or test that may seem very daunting. Taking things slow, figuring out how I can best be of service is a great way for me to feel valuable. Showing others their value and their strengths is the key for me!

About the lesson

I really like to break the ice by asking my student what their favorite hobbies and subjects are, this is to get an idea of how I can implement their interests into what we are studying. I also like to make it known to the parents that we are now a well-oiled machine, a team that is going to do whatever necessary to help their child succeed. My preliminary session mostly consists of asking questions, going over what they do know, what they might be having difficulty in, and what items (such as homework) as missing. Usually by the time a parent reaches me, their child is falling behind and needs help getting organized to not only catch up, but to stay on top of current work as well. My sessions are usually half catch up, half planning on how to stay on top of their work load for the remainder of the school year or semester.
