About Estrella

I love helping and working with students. I have been tutoring since 2015 in subjects ranging from history, to english, to math. I have tutored around 15 students from first grade to seniors in high school. I am currently studying to be an education minor at Washington and Lee University so that I can continue teaching after college.

I love watching students make connections between subjects and making those Ah-ha moments. More so, I love seeing my students gain the confidence to succeed in the subjects they may need an extra push in.

I love learning and would always help classmates around me so one of my teachers my Freshman year of high school suggested I look into tutoring.

I have tutored for over four years in a wide range of subjects and age groups. I am also currently studying to become a certified teacher at one of the top liberal arts college's in the country, on a full ride scholarship.

About the lesson

First I like to get to know the student a little bit. Every session I start asking them about their week, check in on their mood, and then ask them what they feel they're doing well with and struggling with. I like to briefly go over what we've previously discussed and review that if needed in order to continue building a students foundation.

Students aging from first grade to seniors in high school in numerous subjects. I have even working with students differently abled such as those with autism.

Find a tutor who you feel comfotable with! You shouldn't feel scared to disapoint them or answer something wrong, this experience is trully about you getting the aid you need to learn and absorb new material.

Details

I charge $15-20 an hour depending on the subject level and materials being covered. However, as their tutor I provide free help/advice with any problems not during a tutoring session [this is not to be taken advantage of, of course :) ]
