About Christine
I am a Suzuki piano teacher specialize in early childhood but not limited to. I've worked with students age 3 to 70.
In my teaching, I use a holistic approach, very simliar to how I would gudie a chronic ailment client with holistic Functional Nutrition modlaity - respect and work with individuality.
I also incorporate our natural senses to enhance learning experience and making the learning easier and stays deeper.
What my previous families value best in my studio that's unique is that through character study at group musicianship classes, and the support/coaching to the parent of how to work with their children, has improved the parent-child bond in a very treasured manner.
Please refer to my website (concealed information) for more in formation on Suzuki method, my teaching philosophy and testimomials. Or email me with questions (concealed information) or call me at (concealed information)
I am a vision/mission oriented teacher, considering myself very blessed to have had attedned many different health seminars and personal gorwth webinars throughout the years. Looking around and hearing testimonies from aforementioned and news and friends ......, I realize there's a lot of brokenness in our society. Through Dr. Shinichi Suzuki's teaching and the Word of God, I believe and am hopeful that the world can be transformed for the better. My vision is "one family at a time". Music in and of itself has that intrinsic trasforming power, but we need the characarer to do anything and everything well. And therefore my life work becomes an ambassodor for bringing family relationship closer and more loving via piano teaching and coaching. It is through this nurturing environment that an individual soul thrives the best! This is my reward: that the family loves one another! Chinese saying: "Noble oneself, manage the family, rule the country, then peaceable world."
I have great joy doing such deep work for 30 years!
Took teaching Pedagogy and set up private studio at home in Californiaa then in 1988.
I had private lessons myself with traditional method. When I explore the possiblility of teaching my favorite instrument I sought out Suzuki method and took training in Oakland, Ca at Holy Names University with Caroline Fraser, Constance Starr, and Mary Graig Powel. I also had taken Every Child Can with Doris Harrel.

And the meeting is also instrumental in helping the family to learn the suzuki method/philosophy, as well as my personal approach and style of teaching. The family is asigned to get the CD and play daily while waiting for next step. Then we shedule 2 observation lessons for the child to be in the "environement" and feel how it is like to take pinao lesson with Mrs. Chan. If the family and I see a good fit, we proceed t schedule lesson time. Initially lessons are half an hour.

We sought piano lessons for our first child as she was entering kindergarten in 2012 and learned about the Suzuki method and that's when our paths crossed with Dr Christine Chan (our favorite Mrs Christine). Little did we know at the time the piano lessons for our child were going to teach us a new method of learning based on Dr Shinichi Suzuki's philosophy of teaching based on unconditional love. Mrs Christine embraces and integrates this method graciously in the piano lessons and enables the parents through the parent workshops which were instrumental in helping my child practice at home. Our second child joined as a student with Mrs. Christine in 2014. We experienced and observed our children grow and enjoy playing the piano, looking forward to lessons, and participating in recitals over the years. Our children were invited by Mrs Christine to play at the Holy Names University's Summer Institute with Caroline Fraser in front of a large group of Suzuki teachers. We have been blessed with the kind, encouraging and loving approach to Mrs Christine's teaching that every child can and equally as important that every parent can (this was instrumental in helping me help my kids learn a musical instrument). Mrs Christine has taught our family these simple lessons in embracing a child's learning that are well described in these quotes from Dr Suzuki, that "Knowledge is not skill. Knowledge plus ten thousand times is skill. What is man's ultimate direction in life? It is to look for love, truth, virtue, and beauty. Children learn to smile from their parents." And with Mrs Christine's unconditional love and teachings our children have become better learners and we have become better parents. With many thanks and deep gratitude.
Teacher Christine is a creative and patient teacher. She is always warm and welcoming, while also holding my daughter to a high standard for attitude and comprehension. She has so many different ways of explaining and demonstrating concepts, ways to get a child's body moving so they really feel and internalize the lessons. We are very happy to have found Teacher Christine.
Christine is a very good and very gentle teacher, very good for children, the curriculum is also very good, and often gives children some opportunities for interaction and performance, very great!
I am consistently impressed with Teacher Christine's positive energy and ability to find so many ways to explain and demonstrate concepts.
