Professionally-trained with B.A. in Music from La Sierra University with over 5 years tutoring experience.

Affordable prices.

Fun learning experience.

For all ages and all music theory levels.

The first class I ever taught was clarinet, to my young cousin. I was still in highschool at the time, and realized that teaching music-related subjects was rather fun. From there, I began tutoring my friends for fun during my music theory course in college. After that, I taught piano for four years, and now, I'm specializing 100% in music theory because I just love it that much. Self-professed music theory nerd over here! :)

* Received my B.A. in Music (vocal emphasis) at La Sierra University, graduated top of class in the department.

* Have volunteered and been hired for various music and summer music programs while a student at the university and afterward.

I begin by seeing where the student is at and what their needs are. I also get to know them a bit, to see if there are any connections we can make to other subjects (such as science, math, etc.).

Once I have an idea of what we need to work on, I develop a completely personal plan for each student that focuses on getting them to understand the concept and not just memorize it.

We tend to have a lot of fun in this process, and I learn just as much as my students do along the way!

I have worked with students of all ages and levels, from as young as four years of age to college-age and graduate school.

* Make sure your teacher is certified, whether that means they have received a certificate of some sort or have studied in college.

* Make sure you get along well with your teacher or tutor, and that you feel comfortable learning with them. Not every teacher is the perfect fit, and that's ok! That begin said, give it at least 2 or 3 sessions before you make a decision.

* Ideally, it's best to find a teacher or tutor who is PASSIONATE for the subject they are working on with you.

* Make sure the teachers'/tutors' teaching hours are compatible with your available hours.

* If possible, identify clearly what you want to get better at within your subject area. If you don't know, just be honest. That's ok too!

I was tutoring one of the kiddos that comes over for lessons last week, and she was describing music in such a unique and colorful way that I had to stop and start asking her the questions. She was amazing! By the end of the lesson, we had gotten everything done and were both the wiser for it. Those are the kinds of lessons I live for.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Questions to ask yourself as a student:

* What part of the subject am I struggling with most as of late? Is there anyone who knows me or studies with me who can point out their perspective on this (such as a parent, a trusted classmate, or sibling)

* What part of the subject do I tend to do very well at? What comes easy to me?

* What's my favorite part of the subject, and what's my least favorite part? Why?
