About Rachael
My name is Rachael Weeks. I am an experienced primary teacher with a strong background across EYFS, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, and a particular passion for supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). I have extensive experience adapting learning to meet a wide range of needs, including working closely with children who require additional emotional support, tailored interventions, and personalised approaches to help them succeed. My strengths lie in building positive relationships, engaging reluctant learners, and breaking learning down into accessible, practical steps that build confidence as well as academic skills. I have taught and tutored across a broad curriculum, including Maths, English and foundation subjects. I have a dual honours degree in History and English, which I am especially enthusiastic about. I am particularly passionate about creating a supportive learning environment where children feel safe to take risks and develop a love of learning, and I pride myself on helping every child make meaningful progress at their own pace.
A lot of my passion for teaching stemmed from years of working at a riding school, working with children 1:1, helping them develop their skills and confidence in the saddle as well as on the ground. Many of the children I worked with were SEND or found mainstream school difficult. Being on the yard allowed them the flexibility and freedom to build their resilience and confidence. I believe that allowing children to be active and outside can make a huge difference to their well being.
Outside of education, I enjoy riding my horse Addy and going on different adventures with her. I am a great animal lover and have dogs, which sometimes includes fostering strays until they find their forever home. I also love outdoor swimming and in the warmer months can be found swimming at Rutland water, even if it is slightly chilly! I adore reading and enjoy creative writing with my favourite book being Lord of the Rings by JRR Tolkien.

I am a qualified Primary Teacher (University of Cambridge PGCE) with 10+ years’ experience across EYFS–KS2 and a qualified SENDCO. I specialise in early literacy, early maths, primary education, KS3 English and History and personalised intervention.
In my sessions I offer structured routines that help children feel secure, short, engaging tasks to maintain focus, concrete and visual resources for deeper understanding, adaptive teaching tailored to each learner and positive reinforcement to build confidence.
