About Molly

Molly Shirrell is a dedicated painter with over 5 years of oil painting experience. She enjoys learning how to paint more realistically each time she picks up a paintbrush.

Molly graduated from the Lamar Dodd School of Art in 2017 as a studio art minor, where she painted up to 8 hours a day to complete her "Alone" series.

Since she has graduated, Molly has worked in digital marketing to support her love of painting and educational pursuits. Molly has studied with renowned female contemporary figurative artists in the US, including Lee Price and Dorielle Caimi.

Since the pandemic began, Molly has been taking continuing education classes online at the New York Academy of Art where she has furthered her skill set of realistic painting.

I have taught friends and coworkers some but I have never taught in a series of classes.

I received a studio art minor from the Lamar Dodd School of Art at the University of Georgia.

I have also studied under incredible contemporary artists such as Dorielle Caimi and Lee Price.

In the past year, I have further developed my skills by attending continuing ed classes through the New York Academy of Art.

About the lesson

My typical process for working with a new student includes an introductory meeting where we can talk about the direction that the student wants to learn. Whether it's drawing skills, color mixing, or painting more realistically, this helps me adapt my coursework to the individual student.

Mostly adults although I am interested in working with high schoolers and middle schoolers to expand their artistic resources and abilities!

I recently had the pleasure of showing work at the National Figurative Art Juried Exhibition in Plano, Texas. I was awarded an honorary mention for my work.
