About Gena

A music educator at heart, I want singers to enjoy singing as much and as well as they possible can, whether alone or with others. I want singers to enjoy good singing health for a lifetime. While not everyone wants to learn to read music, everyone deserves to feel comfortable, rather than intimidated by looking at printed music on the page. In this area I am adept at designing lessons to help meet the goals of individual students.

I enjoy getting to know the individual student's personality and voice. Watching them grow musically and vocally, as well as in their confidence level is fulfilling and exciting! As I seek to work with students on music that I think is good for them, as well as music that they want to sing, we both grow and learn and enjoy the music!

I've been teaching for over 30 years. I've taught public school music, private lessons and a variety of courses and lessons at the college level. I hold a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Music Education. My doctorate is in Conducting with a minor in Voice Performance. I have former students who are performing on stage, teaching in public schools, teaching private lessons, playing and conducting music in church settings, and doing lots of exciting things. We have had some exciting times participating in festivals and travelling ( England, Austria, Salt Lake City, D.C., etc). What a great profession I enjoy!
