About Michele

I am an national award winning watercolorist and have been painting for over 35 years and teaching watercolor for over 20 years. This has been in several forms such as in schools, churches, and in my studio. These have been both for groups and for individuals. My subject matter varies from portraits, landscapes to still life and more recently children's book illustrations. For beginners it is important to really know the basics in watercolor such as what paper to use, how to shrink it, what types of paint are the best, and dos and don'ts to not create muddy paintings. I am a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators.

You can view my work and find out more about me by going to my website.

(concealed information)

I love the entire process from thinking about what I want to paint to the finished product. It is great to explain and show just how easy watercolor is. I hear all the time that watercolor is so difficult. After a few tips people feel maybe it won't be as hard as they thought.

After painting and finding not many resources for beginners I felt I would be of help. I started basic watercolor classes through a local community adult education offered through the public schools. Later I offered classes at my studio and found many people loved being able to take a class that was both resonable and provided all the needed materials. I wanted to be not only the teacher but also the mentor that could be asked for help when a student is on their own and needing to get past a stuck problem.

I have had few art classes but I am mostly self taught and have been painting for over 40 years with watercolor.

About the lesson

Would like to know/learn what you would like to learn and how much if any experience you may already have. What are your long term desires about painting. Are there subjects you are more drawn to such as landscapes, flowers, people, pets, etc.

Various ages from 14 years old to 80 years old.

Look at their work, do you like their style, do they provide all materials (this can be very expensive when you are just trying to see if you like it) are they available by phone or email when you have a question.

Living on Whidbey Island that are so many to choose from and all are great. I attend artist conferences every year along with group get togethers during the year.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Think about how much time do you have to learn. All things do take some time to get good at. Can you have fun just playing and learning.
