About Candace

Art is a process of freedom. All of us are artists and capable of making anything we imagine. I want to show people thier capacity to create.

I have been working as a drawing and painting teacher for over 5 years now. I have seen students grow their techinical skill and watched them make their own creative decisions. I enjoy teaching oil painting, acrylic painting, watercolor, pastel, colored pencil, graphite and many other mediums.

I recieved my BFA in painting from SCAD atlanta in 2015, and I have been painting since I was 5 years old. Art has brought me so much joy and it has really been my way to tell my personal story. I hope to share that with you.

Painting is my favorite thing to do! It just feels like nothing else.

My first time teaching was in New Orleans. I went back to a camp I used to attend and spent my summer teaching an art class there. I loved that camp so much growing up and I'd always wanted to go back and teach there.

I graduated from SCAD with a BFA - Painting

I have worked for 5 years teaching at Color Wheel Studio in Decatur.

I have taught at numerous programs throught the years teaching as well.

About the lesson

I start by introducing the elements of art and examples of those elements. Upon introducing the project I have the new student draw/paint what was dicussed. Once I can see thier level of technique we go through the process slowly and continusly refer to the elements.

Sometimes the process will start with the student learning to build their own surface to work on. ex: stretching canvas, gesso application, etc.

I've worked with awesome students! I've taught a range of artists that all had different artistic goals. Im so glad to have shared perspective with all of the artists I've taught. I've taught age 5 - 14.
