About Michael

Masterwork artistry is my artwork, as well as my teaching. I am an artist who is been featured on Fox news multiple times, Steve Harvey, and won multiple awards in both London and in Tokyo Japan. My art has been featured all of the world, and I truly love doing what I do.

As of right now I pay all of my bills using my artwork, I am a professional in the strongest sense when it comes to being an artist. I also very much enjoyed teaching it’s probably my second passion after the artwork itself. See samples of my work, feel free to Google my name or look me up on social media. What I like to to tell people stories, find new ways of drawing or painting and new ways of using my materials to create something challenging and meaningful! I like being an artist because you can experiment and play!

I used to teach while I was a student in college Oklahoma, then my art career took off and I stopped teaching for a while. After moving to Las Vegas I started teaching again between commissions, but upon moving to Florida I have not been able to find a good venue for teaching... that’s why am willing to try this website as a supplement to an actual Center for the arts in Central Florida.

I have about seven years being a professional artist whom has shown Art work all over the world. I also have a bachelors degree from the University of Oklahoma in the arts. I’ve taught lessons in Las Vegas, and in Oklahoma and other than doing the artwork it was a pure joy for me.

About the lesson

I like to see where you are with art so I request samples, as well as find out what your motivation is moving forward. When it comes to art everyone has a different motivation, and different skill levels. From there I try to come up with assignments that I think would be challenging, and that address each students weakness. From there we strengthen the weaknesses, while reinforcing a person’s strengths. I also ask a student what they enjoy doing about artwork and we come up with some fun assignments to address those as well while learning about elements and principles of design.

I trained children starting at age 10 ( A parent must be present) and my oldest student was 75.

Ask them what their experience is. Ask them if they will give you a formal critique, and use the elements and principles of design to offer advice. A bad Critique is one where a person says “I like this because the colors are pretty‘. A good critique should be objective, and a good teacher should be objective. They should be able to tell you what you were doing right, what you were doing wrong, and how to use your tools to improve.

Also an artist should have some formal training as well as success in their field. Meaning they should know how to sell their artwork, know what channels to use to sell their artwork, and have a well-developed artist statement. Too many people call themselves artists without actually do the work. Just enjoying the act drawing does not make a person an artist. Having a message and a unique fingerprint in the art world does.

Lastly an artist should have some formal training as well as success in their field. Meaning they should know how to sell their artwork, know what channels to use to sell their artwork, and have a well developed artist statement. Ask them to send you an artist statement. If they look at you cross side then I would keep looking for a new artist to teach you.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
What is their goal as an artist? They just want to get better at drawing? Do they want to get better at communicating messages through artwork? Do they want to perfect a technique, or get better at the technical aspects of drawing? Are they drawing to relax? Do they want to become a professional artist? These are things to consider because your art teacher will be a mentor to you when you want to have the right mentor.

Details

I charge $35 an hour per student, however I am flexible if there’s more than three students. All students under the age of 16 I require there to be a parent present during the lessons.

I require students to have some basic supplies such as a large drawing pad, A large pad of newsprint, charcoal sticks, and a putty eraser to start. I can purchase these for my students but there is an additional charge for that. Also for more long-term students I have an extended list of supply. But the basics will do for short term students.
