About Matt

Started playing with photography over 30 years ago as a kid. Eventually decided to make a career change as an adult and opened up a photography studio and have been blessed with 10+ years as a full time photographer. I specialize in portraits, events and commercial work. I also have a broad knowledge of experimental photography as I love to push the limits on how to create or capture an amazing image.

I mentor high school students and have been for the last 6 years. These are high school seniors that have chosen a senior year project of photography and I help them through their senior year learning photography and completing their project. This has opened up my eyes to possibility of helping others that want to learn to better their craft.

30+ years of photography knowledge and understanding. I don't believe a formal education is needed to reach a high state of skill when it comes to photography. Hard work, practice, and an unwelding desire to learn more and more each day can make anyone a strong skilled photographer.

About the lesson

Meet and Greet for the first bit of the first lesson so that I can get a feel for their knowledge and what they hope to gain from the lessons.

Beginners, and intermediate photographers.

Research their work and portfolio.

When of my senior students learns how to create an image that others in our field have yet to learn... it makes me feel great to be able to share expiremental photography techniques.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Make sure you know exactly what you want to learn from the teacher. Photography can be a broad subject with so many different avenues to discover and old and new techniques to learn. You won't learn it all in one day so if you know what you want to learn, then it helps the teacher know how to guage the lessons they will give.
