About Tallan

I specialize in portrait photography, I help my clients look their absolute best for any occasion!

My favourite part is seeing the clients reactions when they recieve the photos.

I got started teaching while I was in college. Many of my class mates asked me for help because I was already years ahead of them in terms of technical experience.

I run my own photography buisiness, and I have taken 2 years of photography classes at Portland Community College. I realized, while taking photography classes, that I did not learn much. The college courses did not help me simply because I already knew all of the material and exercises. In fact, I would help my fellow class mates learn the material because that particular environment did not help them either.

Learning photography is different for everyone, and it can be learned more quickly with a mentor/student relationship; rather than a one teacher, and 15 students.

About the lesson

I discuss what they want to learn, and then we go from there. I usually work with students out and about to give them hands on experience. But I also do online meetings and I help them learn post processing.

I have only worked with younger students; ages 16-24.

I would first discuss with the teacher what your goals are. And if you don't have any goals yet, the teacher can help you establish some. I would also look out for teachers who require you to purchase a lot of equipment, because in all honestly, most of that equipment will not be necessary.

In January 2018, I helped a friend of mine learn how to use photoshop. I helped them come up with a proper approach and workflow to get the desired outcome. After a few days of persistant, my friend brought to life an image he had in his head. She was very excited, and shared it all over social media.

I love seeing the reactions of clients when they accomplish their goals.
