About Lora
"I graduated from the University of Maine at Farmington in the spring of 2010 with a Bachelors Degree in Secondary Education. My involvement with UMF programs such as Peer Advising, Supplemental Instruction, GEARUP Tutoring and Upward Bound Summer Camp Counseling were all ways of exploring science and education in my undergrad career. My concentration was in Life Sciences and I earned an additional physical science endorsement through advanced chemistry electives. Following graduation, I began teaching at York High School in York, ME. For five years, I taught primarily college prep chemistry with a few courses of biology and honors biology. After an additional five years of teaching the full range of life and physical sciences, including antomy and physiology, physics and Earth science, at Wisdom Middle High School in St. Agatha, Maine, I decided to leave my position after having my first child. With an endorsement in Gifted and Talented educaction and experience in classroom differentiation I am a fully qualified and certified science educator in the State of Maine. I am interested in sharing my passion for science education and motivated to continue to help students learn in my time away from the traditional classroom."
