About Greg

I understand not only how to perform music with excellent technique at the piano but how to understand the music being performed on a compositional level . My knowledge spans from rock music to jazz to the most advanced keyboard works by Bach. My teaching expertise includes, part writing, sight reading, music theory, ear training and compositional forms.

I live and breath music. I have been playing piano for almost 30 years and recieved my degree in music composition. Learning to understand and appreciate music not only deepens the pleasure and fulfillment you can recieve from performing and listening to it; it also sharpens one's sensibiities and offers a strong, productive outlet.

I started teaching piano and tutoring fellow students in music theory while persuing my music degree at Ohio University.

I have studied music all my life and am very lucky to have studied under some great musicians. I recieved my bachelors in music composition from Ohio Univerity. I have experience playing jazz gigs from a fake-book to composing and producing a rock'n roll album and performing high level piano literature. I practice every day in order to continue my learning.

About the lesson

Depends on the student. Skill level and musical understanding can range hugely from person to person. In the beginning I want to get to know who you are and what you want to get out of music so that we can work together to curate a learning path that is focused, productive and satisfying.

I have worked with young children to adults.

Make sure you can make the time to practice regularly. If you don't have the time to practice music (preferably every day) lessons wont be worth your money and wont be rewarding. Think about your current skill level and try to find some music that you would enjoy learning. In the end you will have to meet the teacher you select to study with to really determine if they are going to be a good fit for you.

Recently I started releasing music from my debut rock album 'A Man of His kind'. It took a lot of work and coordination to complete the album and I am happy to finally share it with the world.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
It is very important for students to set achievable goals for themselves so that they can learn, succeed and move on to more advanced concepts. Think about where your musical skills and knowledge are and where you want them to be. developing musicianship is hard work at all skill levels and takes time and persitance. With the right teacher your learning can be greatly accelerated.
