About Patrick
I have been teaching piano and organ lessons for about 30 years & I love working with beginning students, and helping them learn the skill of the piano and organ.
I have worked with ages from 5, all the way up to students in their 80s.
My lessons include both playing, technique, theory and more.
At a church I once attended, I was the pianist & there was a family that attended the church that asked me if I would consider teaching their children. Once the word got out, I began to receive other requests. Then back in 2005, I was approached by the principal of the school where my children attended & asked if I would consider teaching a group piano class because the former teacher had moved away & I've been teaching this class ever since.
I've been a pianist for 35 years & I began playing in church when I was 16. I've studied as a music major in a christian college & I've taken lessons, studied materials, etc. In addition, I've taughter both private and group lessons for 30 years.

If working with a beginner, I always start with the basic fundementals & I go at a pace at the student feels comfortable with. We do a lot of repetitions & we don't rush through the materials.
If working with someone who was working with another teacher, I ask a lot of questions & I try & access where they are musically & either we pick up where they left off with the other teacher, or sometimes I make suggestions on a new and different approach which often is what they were looking for in order to gain a fresh and new perspective.
I've worked with kindergarten students, elementary, jr high, high school, adults & all the way to students in their 80s who were just looking to learn the skill.
In addition, I've taught organ lessons.
My advice would be to find a teacher that is knowledgable & personable, has patience & loves what they do! A piano teacher who loves working with students, teaching them the skill & one with a great personality goes a long way.
On a personal level, it is very important that they check references...especially if they are uncertain.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
WHY - Why do I want to learn the piano?
WHAT - What style do I want to learn? What do I wish to gain?
CONSIDER THE COST - Especially if someone else is paying for the lessons. Piano lessons are an investment, but ONLY if the student is willing to put forth the effort. No one is going to learn the skill if they are not willing to do the work.
PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE - Am I willing to devote myself to practice. Am I passionate about the piano?

My 2 girls started with Pastor Patrick Sanchez when they were in Kindergarten and ended their lesson with him during their middle school years due to his hectic schedule.
I believe his way of teaching was based on the kids' ability, the pacing was just right that the kids were not pressured. I can say that Pastor Sanchez was a great instrument in where our girls are in their Ministry at church, being part of the Worship team. I have recommended him to some of our friends. I am happy with how he handled the 2 girls and forever grateful.Mr. Sanchez gave our son keyboard lessons for several years. Our son was in elementary school at the time and Mr. Sanchez exhibited a lot of patience and made the sessions fun for the kids. He truly introduced the love of playing an instrument in to our son's life and now that he's in middle school he has continued playing an instrument with the school jazz band. Highly recommend.
Patrick is a wonderful and patient teacher to my now 7 year old granddaughter. She started taking lessons with him when she was 5. She is enthusiastic about her lessons and has learned to read and play simple to moderately complex music. I would recommend Patrick to anyone who has an interest in reading music and learning to play an instrument. His lessons have been invaluable to the entire family. A child who is exposed to music gains access to a whole new world and makes the world their oyster.
