About Sarah
I love working with students of all ages, ability levels and stages of learning! I personally tailor each lesson and season to the individual student based on his/her goals and needs. I am passionate about sharing my love of music with everyone I meet, and incorporate different music styles and methods of music performance into my lesson plans.
A long time performer and instructor, I have been in the music world for over 20 years! Including my performances in sacred, secular and musical theater, I have sung in over 9 countries, and throughout the United States. Private instruction has become my main focus over the past 10 years, and my music studio students have given semi annual recitals each year. Several students have even gone on to continue performing in their communities, while attending college, and for international events.
In addition to my own private lessons growing up, I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Mary Baldwin College, and a partial Masters of Vocal Pedagogy from Westminster Choir College. Please check out my Facebook page at (concealed information)

While studying in graduate school, a local music school was looking for a voice teacher. I applied, auditioned and interviewed for the job and have never looked back! I love working with each individual to develop new skills, and the variety that each person brings to my day is wonderful! I truly never teach the same lesson twice, and I find that to make for a wonderful and refreshing work environment.
I have been teaching music for nearly 15 years, both for a music school and privately. I hold a B.A. in Music and have over 20 years of professional performance experience.

I always begin with a short interview to discuss why they are pursuing music lessons and what they hope to gain. We talk about their other interests, the music the enjoy listening to, and what types of music they might be interested in learning. From there, we review the instrument, what to expect at each lesson, and what my expectations are regarding practicing each week. For voice students, we spend some time playing and singing through different styles of music until we land on the "right" first song to learn!
I have worked with beginning elementary age children, young adolescents, high school students, college age and even a few adults. I also work with children who are on the Autism spectrum as I have a son with those same needs who loves music! Many of my students who started with me as beginners are now enjoying leading roles in musicals and theater productions, and another is working to make it to the "big time" in Nashville. To say I am a proud teacher is an understatement!
Think through what you hope to gain from music lessons. Is it knowledge of the instrument or music reading? Are you looking for confidence on stage, or to simply serenade your family at home? How much time do you have to devote to practicing? All of these are great things to consider. Even if you are looking for a more basic understanding of an instrument, or if you don't have a lot of time to practice, none of that should keep you from pursuing the joy of music - it just helps to have a clear understanding before you begin.

Sarah was able to offer accommodating hours for private lessons. She took the time to learn about my kids, their skill levels and their individual needs prior to starting lessons with them. And she provided incredible support and patience to each of my children during instruction time. I feel blessed to have found such a wonderfully gifted music teacher! I highly recommend the Sarah Baumgardner Music Studio.
Before my son started voice lessons with Sarah, he was unsure of himself and afraid to sing out. After just a couple of lessons, he was extremely confident and felt as though he could take more risks on stage. Sarah is an exceptional teacher, and anyone who takes lessons from her will benefit from her creativity and expertise!
Sarah is AMAZING! My son took voice lessons from Sarah for a year while she was in Ohio. She is professional, musically gifted, and encouraging to all! We miss her very much! If you attend any of her classes you won’t be disappointed!!

A 30 minute lesson is $25, and an hour lesson is $50. Included in this price students receive one on one time with me, a detailed lesson plan, and the cost of any materials beyond their specific lesson book, such as photo copies or rental fees for the recitals. I also charge an annual fee of $25 to cover the cost of books that I purchase for the student (these become the property of the student).
