About RICHARD
My business, Music Reading and Piano Tutoring, is focused on doing just what its name implies. Each person who books a lesson time on the Music Reading and Piano Tutoring website: (concealed information) will receive individualized instruction from me in either how to read music or how to play the piano or both, depending on what they choose. The instruction will occur as often as they want it to (at least once a week is suggested) and for whatever length of time on Mondays through Saturdays at whatever time we agree upon. Payment is expected in advance of each lesson or group of lessons that are booked on this website. Lessons that are cancelled 24 hours in advance will not be charged for. The lessons will be done remotely and how that will be done will be determined with each student who books a lesson individually.
I really enjoy watching my students develop an awareness over time that learning to read music well helps them want to spend more time practicing for their next lessons, as they gradually understand that their ability to play the piano better with each succeeding lesson depends on their mastery of the musical signs and symbols they encounter in the compositions they are learning to play. This is the same learning process I went through as a student, who prepared for and performed in numerous recitals and other musical programs, culminating in my own two required hour-long piano recitals in college that helped earn me my Bachelor of Music degree with a major in Piano Performance.
After completing my Bachelor of Music degree with a major in Piano Performance at a four-year college and some graduate music courses at a university, I began teaching private piano and music theory lessons in the music studio operated by my former high school vocal music teacher.
1-I was taught by private piano teachers how to play the piano and read music from an early age through high school. 2-I then earned the Bachelor of Music degree with a major in Piano Performance at a four-year college. 3-After that, I completed some graduate music courses at two universities and then earned public school teaching certification in music from another university.

1-Introduce myself and describe my prior experience teaching piano and music reading to them. 2-Discover why they want to learn to play the piano and learn to read music and if they have any prior experience or have received any prior instruction in doing either. 3-Determine what learning materials they have or need and how to acquire those they need. 4-If they have any learning materials with them, begin their first lesson.
I have taught students of all ages, from two and a half to adults in their seventies of both genders and from various ethnic and racial backgrounds. Students just beginning to learn how to play the piano and read music to more advanced students who could read and play piano compositions in various styles, by various composers at advanced levels of difficulty.
+Will your teacher's prior educational training and experience and style of teaching help you achieve the musical goals you have set for yourself in your desire to learn to play the piano and to read music or to become a better pianist and a more proficient reader of music.
Any day I am teaching someone how to read music, how to sing, or how to play the piano is an enjoyable day for me.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
1-Are my expectations of the goals I want to achieve in learning to play the piano and to read music realistic? 2-Will I spend the necessary time each day to practice the piano according to my teacher's detailed instructions at each lesson I take? 3-Do I need to keep a notebook or journal of everything I learn and do, as I learn to play the piano and read music, to refer to when I have questions for my teacher? 4-Will the technological devices I have achieve the connectivity with my teacher's technological devices necessary for the best delivery possible of my lessons to me? 5-If I have other concerns that I feel might impede my learning to play the piano and to read music, whom should I talk to about them?
