About Cynthia
My service stands out because I truly enjoy teaching piano. I like to make learning fun and have found that by incorporating fun in the lessons, my students retain and remember more easily. I also like to ascertain as to what way the student learns best, i.e. some of my students comprehend the lessons better through visual aides, and others progress better by simple audio instruction. Some actually respond more readily using both methods.
I enjoy the instant gratification of hearing my student's progress. Also, I love being able to share my gift with others.
I began teaching due to requests from friends, family and acquaintances. I found that I really enjoyed helping others learn to play.
I studied piano under the private tutelage of two professors for over 20 years. My training also included playing for other students to sing, performing duets and participating in concerts.
As for my educational background, I have a bachelor's degree.
I have played for over 300 weddings, funerals, receptions and performed in many concerts. I have also played piano and keyboard with choirs and bands. I have been teaching students as young as age 3 and up through adults for over 20 years.
I began playing for the youth choir at church when I was ten and taught my first lesson at age 14. Also, I have played for church congregations as their primary pianist.

Once the day, time, lesson length and materials have been obtained, we will connect online and begin our lesson. The student will learn the notes and to site-read the music. I also will help the student to recognize the note tones to encourage playing by ear.
Before the coronavirus, I was teaching music in schools to children in kindergarten through 2nd grade. This was quite rewarding as I have never taught a group of students at one time. (Before this position, I only taught singletons).
I have also worked with children as young as three. In addition, I have taught much older adults, successfully. Many adults feel they have missed their chance to learn piano since they started so late; however, this group of students really want to learn and they do well - becoming accomplished pianists.
I would begin by reading the instructor's profile. I would spend some time and write down all of the questions I could think of regarding the lesson structure and anything else I wanted to know about the teacher, etc. I think it's paramount that the parent and instructor (in underaged students) both work together to build a lesson protocol tailored to the student.
My first grandchild was born a few years ago and I am so very grateful to have her. She's already had her first piano lesson and she did quite well.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
The student needs to be upfront with the instructor about any learning issues. Also, it is important for the instructor to have an idea of other after school activities so that practice time can be mutually understood.
