About Alec
As a composer for video-games and film, I have the technical skills and knowledge of not only the piano, but also a wide array of other instruments as well, such as the guitar, drums, and bass. My music is highly diverse as well, so I can teach my students everything from classical to heavy metal.
My foremost philosophy in teaching piano is following the student's goals and dreams, not mine. While curriculum work is certainly vital, it is far more important that my students receive help they need in accomplishing their biggest aspirations in music. Whether you want to be a music composer, rock-star, or just playing for your loved ones, I can bring you closer to that goal.
I believe that setting my rate low (at $25/30 minutes for regular lessons) does not indicate that I am unqualified in tutoring piano. As a piano student myself, I very much feel for other students who have to pay exhorbant sums just to learn basic piano. Money should not be important in deciding where to pick up piano.
As part of my background in composing music, I am also offering a premium course at $32 for 40 minutes. Extra time will be devoted to learning how to construct your own songs. Not only will I be going over the basics of song writing, but students will have a portfolio of their work by the end of the semester.

Music has always been my passion throughout my life. I don't think there has been a day where I haven't engaged in music in some way. Teaching others how to experience this level of passion brings me the upmost joy in my life. There is nothing I would do else than sharing my knowledge of music.
It started with my family of course. My parents were interested in how I created my own songs, so I tought them the basics of both the piano and song composition. Eventually, I moved on with my friends who, exciteded about learning music, referred me to their other friends
I have been a music composer for the past 3 years, part of the band Klaviam for over 12 years, and have played the piano for even longer. I have been instructed by wonderful and experienced tutors in both piano and compositional skills. I am also familiar with digital audio workstations (DAWs), and can instruct students should they want to pursue that area.

I will first go over with the student the days and times for our lessons. After a sufficient schedule has been layed out, I will listen to the student's needs and goals he wants to accomplish. I will personally adjust the cirriculum and session time to fit the student's requirements.
Mostly 6-18 year-olds, but I have also worked with younger children, as well as adult beginners as well.
Don't pay too much for basic lessons, but also look for quality instructors as well. It has always bothered me how many tutors can get away with an extremely high rate. Even if their service is exceptional, there are much better options for your money elsewhere.
Look for key points when looking for awesome tutors: honesty, a kind personality, some discipline when needed. Experience is not the only factor you have to look for when deciding what teacher to sign up to.
Game Developer's Conference (GDC), a video-game event where developer's from all over the globe discuss the development of games. While not quite a recent event, as it starts in about a week. I will be attending as I have in the past. The reason why this event intriques me is because I am working as a video-game composer, so obviously understanding how music is integrated in video-games, and forming contacts with developers is extremely useful for my goals.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Be honest about your practice times. Open up to your instructor about setting a set schedule for practice. Trust me, coming from experience, this is important.
Also, don't be afraid to open up to your teacher about your areas of weakness and goals you want to accomplish. Many teacher, myself included, are more than happy to accomodate any requests for additional instruction.

Details
Standard Lesson Plan: $25 for 30 minutes. The day's lesson will include practical warm-ups, going through the curriculum, and finally, learning a song of the student's choice as the end.
Premium Lesson Plan: $32 for 40 minutes. In addition to the previous activities, I will also teach the basics of creating your own songs. I will demonstrate the techniques used in song creation, the rules, and how to break the rules if necessary.
