About Kay
I have a Bachelors and Masters in Music. I also am a Certified Alexander Technique teacher and a Licensed Andover Educator. Both of these programs have prepared me to work with healthy approaches to technique. I have my own studio with two pianos and supplementary equipment. I have written and published Sensory Tune-ups: a guided journal of sensory experiences for performers of all ages.
I really enjoy working with young people. I am fortunate in being a part of their lives, often for many years. It is a joy to see them grow musically and as people.
I have taught students at all levels, from beginners to conservatory. Each student presents as an individual with particular strengths and goals.
I started in college as part of the Preparatory Program.
B.M. in music education, Susquehanna University
M.M. in piano pedagogy, Illinois State University
ATI Certified Alexander Technique Teacher

First get to know the student by asking simple questions. Then we start to explore the piano. I use many different teaching methods, so I look for one that will work for the student.
All kinds from young to adults. Some are recreational, some are pre-professional
Look for training, experience and a fitting temperament.
My studio recital is a wonderful opportunity for students to perform for family and friends. They play on am excellent Steinway, which is a treat.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
How much practice time can they devote to learning to the play? What are their goals? What kind of instrument is available?
