About Meg (Margaret)
I have taught private lessons in piano, violin, and viola for many years (all ages); and I have also taught music in classroom settings, ages 3-18. I try to find the right approach for each individual since everyone learns differently. I also try to incorporate a wide variety of musical styles to allow my students to be able to choose some of what they are learning. I have my students do 2 recitals a year.
I enjoy watching my students discover their own musical abilities. It is exciting to see them learn something new and find new confidence and determination. I also enjoy playing duets with my students, it's always fun to create music together.
My mother was a piano teacher and I started with a friend of hers after college graduation.
I trained in piano at Eastman School of Music, and Houghton college . I played viola in the RPYO. I have a Bachelors degree in music education, as well as graduate work in the same field.
