About Mike

Welcome to Never Fold Poker! I have experience playing poker in many different forms for nearly 20 years and am excited to help others learn about and be successful at the game. I have coached and mentored others seeking to understand the game of poker from basic concepts to advanced strategies. I specialize in tournament strategies but am also available to help those looking to advance their cash game techniques. I also have a professional teaching license and have taught high school and middle school classes for 20 years. Let me help you learn, have fun and make money all at the same time.

I have always wanted to be a teacher and have a lot of experience in coaching and classroom instruction. I have combined my passion for poker with my knowlege of teaching to help my students be successful.

I have a middle grades North Carolina teaching license and have been teaching 8th and 9th grade for 20 years. I use many teaching methods and strategies that I have learned through my experience in the classroom to help my students. I have also played poker with success in various settings around the United States and have particular experience with poker tournaments.

About the lesson

I need to know what experience my students have and what goals they want to achieve. I can tailor lessons that will suit any skill level but need to know what will work best for each mentee. No two students are identical and I never have a set lesson plan. I want to develop a shared strategy so students can get the most benefit from our time together.

I have worked with mostly beginning or mid-level poker students who want a more advanced understanding of the game. Poker can be played at a basic level where you have only an understanding of the rules all the way up to the professional level where thinking through solutions is thought processes are more important than rules and the cards that you hold. I want my students to advance to whatever their next level should be and potentially all the way to a professional or semi-professional level. I am also happy to teach the basic fundamentals of the game which all players will need to be successful.

Make sure that you talk to the instructor and ask a lot of questions before you hire anyone. You want to find the right fit and have someone that you like. You don't want just a teacher, but a mentor that can guide you and evolve your learning to fit your needs.
