About Dominick

As the owner and founder of Filmtech Film School, I teach one-on-one private instruction in Screenwriting, Video Production, Camera Operation, Editing and more - basically all aspects of film and video production.

I'm a graduate of Lehigh University and the Seattle Film Institute. I founded the school in Philadelphia and began teaching in 2005. Since then hundreds of students have passed through our doors.

With private tutoring, I tailor the content and syllabus to your needs and goals, whether it's writing a short or long-form script, shooting a video or learning how to edit. We meet when it's convenient for your schedule and can change the meeting day and time from week to week.

I started teaching ten years ago when I started the film school. I began teaching screenwriting and gradually added the other classes. I enjoy introducing students to new topics and ideas and in exchange I learn a lot myself, from answering questions and seeing what creative ideas my students have.

I graduated from Lehigh University with a B.A. in English Literature and a minor in journalism. I attended the Seattle FIlm Institute and completed their one-year Video Production Program.

I own and operate Filmtech Film School as well as teach several of its classes - including screenwriting, video production, editing, cinematography, camera operation, lighting and sound.

About the lesson

I like to contact the student and have a conversation about what they want to learn and how they want to apply what they've learned after we've finished working together. This goal might be to write a script and get it produced or to make a short video for fun. Whether the ultimate project is for fun or professional development, I can help.

I only work with students 18 years old or older. Most of my students fall into the 25-40 year old age group but I've had younger and older students and I'm eager to work with students of all ages and experience ranges.

Most of my students have little or no experience in the subject they study with me - camera operation or scriptwriting for instance. But I can adjust my instruction if you do have some skills, background or knowledge of the topic.

The most important thing is to decide why you're taking the classes, i.e. what you want to accomplish and use the skills for after we're finished. Is it for a professional career move or just to learn something fun to do as a hobby. Deciding that will help us move more efficiently through the course material and have you learn exactly what you want to learn.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
There are basic things like what days and times would the student be free to meet for instructional sessions, how many total hours they want to spend on learning, and what their budget is for the program of instruction. It's also good to think about what specific techniques, topics or theories they're interested in learning and what their educational goals are.

Prices vary based on what the student's learning goals are and how many sessions are required. I like to keep sessions around 3 hours each and I have a minimum of 15 hours.
