About Christina
I am a former special education teacher who fell in love with teaching phonics. Now, as a Reading Specialist, I work daily with struggling readers in grades K-3. During the summer, I take on students to help prevent summer slide. I am able to assess a student's strengths and weaknesses in reading and spelling and recommend areas to target during tutoring.
Truthfully, I love the bonds I make with my students above all else. I have fun working with them, encouraging them, and watching them grow as readers.
What I enjoy the most about phonics instruction is that it has such an impact. Because it is organized into small, incremental chunks, it is easy to see success early in intervention. Celebrating these early successes can be motivating to students to try for more.
