About Benjamin
I'm Ben, a 5th grade teacher who has just finished his 6th year teaching. I have experience tutoring through my school from kindergarten through the 8th grade. I really like working with students one on one or in small groups to help them better understand what they are studying.
My experience teaching is at the elementary school level, but my background is in Education and I enjoyed studying a broad range of subjects while I was in school My teaching philosophy is also based on self-directed learning so my students are often exploring avenues within the subjects I teach that I may not have studied before. I am practiced at keeping myself up to date and informed and in continuing to be a learner as I teach.
I have taught in an Elementary School for 6 years. For the first two years, I worked as a Title I teacher, working with small groups of students to focus on their reading and math needs. Since then, I have spent one year as a 1st-grade teacher and three years as a 5th-grade teacher. I have also tutored through my school, working both one-on-one and with small groups.
