About Tyler
As an educator, I am well-versed in developing and differentiating curriculum based on individual student needs. I am also extremely knowledgable in the California Preschool Foundations and California Common Core Standards (grades TK-2). I am versed in utilzing many styles of learning to best meet the needs of families and children.
Considering myself a lifelong learner, I am constantly looking for ways to learn with children, engage in new experiences, and deepen my practice. I believe that learning is a space for people to discuss, analyze, collaborate, and create. I believe that children should given opportunities to learn not only about themselves, but the people and communities around the through engaging in student-driven learning. I enjoy seeing the growth and success of children over time. I enjoy seeing others reach their full potential
Coming from a family of educators, I was surrounded by people who cared and nurtured our future leaders. It was no surprise that I followed in their footsteps and became an educator as well.
I received my Bachelor's degree in Liberal Studies-Elementary Education from Loyola Marymount University.While working towards my undergraduate degree, I worked at Loyola Marymount University Children's Center in the 4-5 year old classroom. Immediately after graduating, I began teaching in elementary school.Since being in the classroom, I have received my Master's of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from California State University Dominguez Hills.

The typical process for working with a new student is to initially discuss what the family's target needs are. By meeting with the student and family we will develop a plan to best meet everyone's needs. We will then perform an intial assessment of the student and have sessions around student's needs.
I have worked with children from a variety of socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds, working in both the public school and private school systems. Majority of my experience is working with children ages 4-8.
Recently, I worked with a student who was uninspired when it came to reading. Through working one on one with him, I realized his passions and interests. By using his own personal interests, I integrated books and experiences to spark his curiousity. He immediately became invested in the curriculum and his reading flourished.
