About Ellie

I'm a current high school student and someone who has been tutored a lot in the past (more than I admit). Because of this, I've learned what works and what doesn't and I've found that the main barrier in tutoring is the anxiety that comes with interacting with a tutor. This often prevents students (me included) from asking the questions they really want, and admitting that they still don't understand concepts. As someone who has experienced this and someone close in age I hope to prevent this as much as possible. My goal is for my students to be comfortable and casual with me so we can work together to achieve their goals as easily as possible.

SAT//

I took the SAT last year and scored in the 99th percentile with a 1560 (780/800 EBRW/780/800 Math). However, I was not inititally a super high scorer, and spent hours a day for months preparing for the exam. As a result of this, I am able to understand the reasoning of other students far better than those that found the exam immediately easy. This, and my recent experience with the exam enables me to think through the thought process with the student. Being able to explain why an answer is wrong and why it could be mistaken for a correct answer is far more effective than simply explaining correct answers.

AP//

I achieved a 5 on the AP European History Exam, and maintained a 100 average in the class. I am also a contributing editor for the Fordham Medieval Londoners Database. I currently am enrolled in AP US History and am studying for the AP World History exam. I want to pursue history in college, and my goal is to become a history professor.
