About Tish
With over 30 years sewing experience and many many sewing "experiments" gone good and bad, it was time to share some of these findings with others who enjoy sewing and making garments and home decor items.
If you've never sewn before, maybe made a few craftsy things, or want to take your skills to the next level, we have begining, intermediate and advanced classes that are easy to understand and FUN!
We only teach 3 students at a time, to make sure you get personal attention in an intimate setting. We don't want you to be intimidated...sewing should be FUN, not scary!
I truly believe anyone that wants to learn to sew will be able to make quality items with the proper skills offered to them...I don't just teach sewing, I help you build confidence and skills at HISS!

That "AHA!" moment when students actually understand why their machine is acting up, or figure out how to think through a pattern, or even make that perfect seam for the first time.
The best thing ever is when I have a student who has never used a sewing machine before, they are nervous, and they don't think they can sew...By the end of class they've made a small project, are not afraid of the machine, and are smiling from ear to ear because they made something all by themselves. That's a great day!
My special needs cat Vega required an expensive surgery, and I needed a way to pay for it. Since I had sewing skills, I decided to try teaching a few classes until I made the money I needed for Vega. Now all these years later Vega is doing great and I love teaching the classes, so it went from a hobby to a real business!
30 years experience in sewing projects that went great, and others, well, not so much. I've made everything from basic tote bags to the Tux I wore to my best friend's wedding, and everything in between. Sewing is FUN, and shouldn't be hard to understand, so I make classes easy and entertaining so you can get skills and then go out on your own!

Give me a call if you have any questions, aren't sure what you need, or just are curious. You don't have to have your own sewing machine, just a willingness to learn! We encourage you to bring you own machine if you have one, but if not use one of ours!

NOOBS who have never used a machine, self taught folks who want to learn more and improve their work, students who took a "make this bag" or other class from a competitor and want to know more than how to "follow the leader" in a big, impersonal class setting. If you've got a project you want to do and you need to pick someone's brain on how to get it done, give me a call!
Don't think just because there is a class on how to make an item that you are going to learn how to sew. If you have no experience, the item you make is probably going to turn out bad, you will be frustrated, and often the class is too big for personal instruction. If you truly want to learn to sew, get some skills, then make something small, and work your way up with practice. Yes it takes time, but you'll build good habits so each piece you make is better than the last!
I'm really into Formula One, so last year I made it to my first international race in Montreal! AMAZING!
