About Mary

I love helping students gain the skills to create what interests them whether it is custom fit clothing, home decor, or sewing for children or family members. Inspiring new sewers to enjoy sewing.

I have 45+ years of sewing experience sewing, have owned a custom sewing business for approxiametly 10 years and taught private and group sewing classes since 2017.

I love working with people of all ages and abilities learn basic and advanced sewing techniques. From kids summer camps that introduce the fun of sewing to life skill sewing such as hand sewing and mending to creating that one of a kind custom garment.

I taught my own 5 children to sew and was invited by a local homeschool co-op to teach a class there. I started a summer camp about the same time by request of some friends who wanted something for fun for their children to do during the summer without having to travel long distances to particiapate. The summer camp has grown from one 1 week session to 4 sold out 1 week sessions in just 3 years.

I have been sewing for 47+ years.

I been doing custom sewing work for 25+ years.

I have taught summer sewing camps, at a local homeschool coop and with class and private sewing lessons for 3 years.

I am constantly taking workshops and classes to learn new techniques and improve my sewing knowledge as well.

About the lesson

I start by finding out what the student already knows, have they ever sewn before and if so what. I ask what their goals are in learning to sew (i.e. craft sewing, garment sewing, general sewing mending or repair work) and taylor the lessons for the individual's skill level and interests.

I have worked with all ages from 5 to 69 and even with speical needs students. I have worked with students who have never touched a sewing machine before to adults who quilted for years and want to learn garment sewing and every age and skill level between.

My ribbon skirt workshops are always one of my favorite as well as the Summer Sewing Camp. There is a fashion show the last day of camp for all participants and it is a highlight of the week.

Details

Group in person classes are $40 a month, one 1 hour class per week.

Private classes are $60 a month, one 1 hour class per week (2-3 hour per week classes available on request)

Online private classes (through zoom) are $60 for one 1 hour class per week.
