About Omar

I obtained an associates degree in fashion design December of 2001. I have made performing costumes for dancers, wedding gowns, Halloween costumes. I am currently in university working on obtaining a bachelors degree in fashion design in order to take my skills that I acquired back in 2001 to a higher level. I would love to teach students of all ages how to sew, introduce them to the fashion industry and the skills that the industry offers, as well as potential jobs and careers that are involve with this industry.

I teach dance, this opened doors to start designing and making costumes for dancers including my dancers and then I was asked by people to tech them to sew.

I have an associates degree from brooks colleges 2001

I am currently in Los Angeles trade tech working in a bachelors degree

About the lesson

I would ask what their goals, explain the sewing process, teach them about sewing machines and give class work in order to start sewing.

I have worked with older 60+ and younger 8-10 years of age.

I respect those that have a degree because it shows commitment. I know that in the fashion industry you don't necessarily need a degree but it helps and shows conviction. Besides sewing I can give them many possibilities on how to make and finish garments.

I love learning so last class in schoool was a pattern making class where we were asked to make a simple dress shirt style dress. I made an evening gown dress shirt style and just felt more in loved with desining. Everyday I learn that patiences is extremely important in this craft. I am now working on a fashion line inspired of this challenge presented to me in school.
