About Grace

I began my path towards being a music educator and performer at the young age of seven, when I joined the Peninsula Girls Chorus of Burlingame, CA. With my own classical training beginning within their care, I knew that someday I would want to teach other eager students like myself the proper techniques to help them pursue their dreams.

As I grew, so did my repertoire and accolades. I competed at a regional level four times in my high school career, and several times at a state level with my choirs. Eventually, I would go on to pursue Music Performance with an emphasis in Classical Music at the prestigious William Jewell College.

William Jewell College has an intensive music program, where they train all of their performance majors how to teach students, conduct choirs, overcome obstacles in performance, and to play piano, all with the goal of releasing capable, well-rounded musicians into the world. It was a difficult program, but the supportive faculty helped to hone my craft more than I could have ever hoped to do anywhere else.

Now, as I teach my students, I ensure that each of them knows

• how to read music and understands the theory behind it;

• how to use the classical techniques I teach across a variety of genres;

• how to choose repertoire appropriate for the voice, age and specialty;

• how to be expressive in performance; and

• how to move forward in the music world with a strong foundation after our time together has concluded.

I am confident that my students will go forward knowing these fundamentals and will be able to pursue whatever path they choose with confidence in their skills and abilities.

When I work with a fellow musician, I enjoy knowing that I am helping them to hone their craft, develop their skills and that they are learning proper vocal care and techniques that will stay with them throughout their entire career.

Helping young musicians to find their voice is my passion, so building a strong foundation of music theory, sight reading skills, and the physical techniques required of a strong performer (i.e. posture, breath control, sound placement) is very important to me. I make sure that my students understand music and performance, and feel confident in each lesson; I teach at their pace, while still challenging them to move forward.

My goal is for every student I teach to leave with something valuable that can help them in their art, whether we meet for one lesson or stay with each other for years. Music is an art form, and like every art, it requires technique, practice, but most of all passion. I help to build the foundation so that their passion can carry them forward with confidence.

Singing lessons offered by Grace are tailored to each student's needs and level. Lessons can also be held online. Lessons are also available in Austin. The first lesson is free to define learning goals and methodology.
