About Sofia

When it comes ot teaching music to my students, my favorite part is seeing them acheive new levels in their skill set and having them see results they never thoguth were possbile. I love what I do and it makes me so happy to be able to share my passion with others.

Berklee College of Music really helped me become the musician I am today and has allowed my career to take me on an amazing journy with unforgetable experiences. Doing backgorund vocals for Waterparks and Jessie J all the way to performing for my rock band, Seven Day Sleep and releasing my solo pop/rock project, has given me tools to pass on to the next generation os muscians.

Being able to share what I've learned with my students is what drives me every day. I can't wait to meet you and to begin your musical journey!

(concealed information)

I used to teach when I was a student in college but once I started working full time in the music industry I moved to LA and had to leave my student in Boston.

I started teaching again at the beginning of Covid-19 since live shows and studios were completely shut down. This allowed me to still be involved with my passion and teach others to grow theirs.

When I begin lessons with a new student I like to start by getting to know them a bit better and getting a clear  understanding of what their goals are. No matter their vocal experience, I always begin with basic warm ups, ear training and call and response exercise so I know what to focus on for our future lessons. This may be breath work, posture or working more on their tone.  Every student will have the potential to grow in a new area and the first lesson is a great way to see how to take them to the next level.

Most of my students in Boston were between the ages of 10 and17 however most of my students now are between 20-30 years old. My specialty is in Rock and Pop vocals.

Most of my students are first time vocalists that need all the basic training. One of my students Malysa, started as a first time vocalist and has been training with me for the past six months. Since then she has grown so much and I now train her off of my intermediate syllabus.

When trying to find a good vocal teacher you want to consider the following:

- A teacher with proper training. This is very important because if you don't have the proper training you could easily damage your vocal chords and adapt the wrong techniques.

- A teacher that has a flexible schedule.

Sofar Sounds is a great event that happens all over the US and the always have incredible talented musicians.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
When looking for a music teacher it is really important to ask yourself if you get a good feeling from the teacher. This is the first step to making sure that you can connect with your teacher and this is essential to your growth because you will have to be vulnerable and open during your lessons. Making mistakes is normal and performing can be intimidating so having a positive environment where you feel supported whilst learning is key to growth.
