About Loryn

I have an intuitive sense and vast experience in Music Education, performance and tutelage from some of the greatest performing artists which enables me to bring out the talent and artistry in my students by knowing exactly what they need when they need it!

I have a Master's in Teaching and I am a New England Conservatory trained singer and musician where I majored in Vocal Performance and Music Education. I also have a Masters in teaching. I have over 20 years experience teaching Voice, Piano and Violin. I studied Violin with the violin virtuoso, Joseph Haber for ten years, and Piano also with great Maestros and Voice for many years with the renowned Opera and Broadway singer Carlo Thomas and the late N.Y. vocal coach Donald Myers. I am a certified, dedicated and nurturing Florida Music Educator also, as well as an actor/director, and have Musically directed for Seattle Children's Theater in conjunction with the Northshore School District.

I teach all levels of Voice, Violin, and Piano to all ages including beginning Guitar for children age 3 through professional adults and seniors, Music Theory, Standard Notation, Sight Singing, Audition Techniques and Acting For Singers. I was a member of the Eastman Vocal Jazz Ensemble, have sung in many church choirs and as a soloist in churches throughout the country including back-up for Integrity Music and leading worship team for a chuch in Washington state, and as a singer and violin soloist for Cedar Park Christian church, as well as having sung in choirs at Carnegie Hall. I also perform in local community theater. I teach all genres of music from Rock and Pop to Classical and Opera.

My calling is teaching. It energized me and my students. I am dedicated, nurturing and exubérante because I love Music, teaching and performing so much it doesn't feel like work to me. I derive great satisfaction from supporting others to be and do their best!

I was homeschooling my children in Washington State for several years when they were in elementary school and gave lessons and taught in cooperative schooling groups and loved teaching every day!

About the lesson

I will ask you what kind of music you like and what your goals are. I will go over basic technique. I will give you exercises and scales to sing or play, listen to your vocal quality and range if you are taking Voice lessons, and model and teach technique, and have you choose your favorite music to practice, as well as recommend Music and give you Music that lends itself well to your instrumental level or vocal quality. I will Model and practice applicable exercises for the music and show you how to practice the music, and review the lesson as a whole. I will give you real-time feedback as you are singing or playing and incorporate Music theory, reading and learning by ear into the lesson.

Children age 3 through senior adults and professionals: all levels and students with disabilites and twice exceptional students as well. I also teach Mommy and Daddy and me lessons and siblings together.

Details

I charge $20 per half hour and $40 per hour for zoom lessons. In person lesdons are $30 per half hour and $60 per hour. If you pay by the month for a four week month (4 lessons) the cost will be $75 per month for half hour zoom lessons and $155 per month for hour zoom lessons. Currently during the pandemic I am only doing zoom lessons. I take payments through zelle or PayPal.
