I am a tenor majoring in music education going into my senior year. After two years with Dr. Dugan, I have improved incredibly.

Dr. Dugan is incredibly knowledgeable about the mechanics of the voice and very good at presenting his knowledge in an approachable manner. I had not had voice lessons before college and was unfamiliar with many of the ideas he taught but was still able to pick them up quickly because of his great teaching. Dr. Dugan also teaches the performance art of singing well. Encouraging engagement with the text and emotional communication along with technical skill.

Dr. Dugan does a good job of balancing constructive criticism with encouragement as well as understanding the goals of his different students and how to help them achieve their desires. He will not let you cheap out on learning a necessary skill, but he will not beat a dead horse with it either.

Dr. Dugan is also an incredibly capable demonstrator of technique and performance which is very necessary for vocal instruction. He makes time to respond to student questions between lessons and is enjoyable to work with.

All and all, Dr. Dugan is an excellent vocal instructor and I cannot recommend him enough!

You can tell he’s very passionate about his work and invested in the needs of his students . I’ve just started and i feel like i have so much still to learn. 10/10 would recommend!
